G-INews, KANPUR — January 4, 2026 — In a proud moment for the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, two of its distinguished faculty members, Prof. Amit Agarwal from the Department of Physics and Prof. Yogesh Singh Chauhan from the Department of Electrical Engineering, have been elected as Fellows of the Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc).

Prof. Amit Agarwal (Physics): A theoretical condensed matter physicist, Prof. Agarwal is renowned for his work on quantum many-body effects and transport properties in low-dimensional systems.

His research into topological materials and nanoscale device modeling recently earned him the prestigious Vigyan Yuva Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 2025.
Prof. Yogesh Singh Chauhan (Electrical Engineering): An IEEE Fellow and expert in semiconductor device modeling, Prof. Chauhan is a lead developer of industry-standard models used worldwide for designing integrated circuits (ICs) in mobile phones, 5G technology, and space applications.
